GALERIA DEL PARANIMF

Galeria del Paranimf
Barcelona, Spain
March 10th to 14th of 2014
33 x 6,5 x 5,5 m

Penique Productions comes back to its hometown with the institution that gave it birth: Universitat de Barcelona, and, for the occasion, the collective takes over the iconic Paranimf Gallery located in the historic building of the University. The installation filters daylight in a constant expression of reflections: lights and shades that highlights the architecture in relation with the inflatable. The installation displays different color tones as the day progresses, highlighting its changeable uniqueness. The constant blue layer throughout the more of thirty meters long merges with windows and ornaments of the hall as well as redraws the majesty of the Paranimf entrance, providing an intimate dialogue, turning them into the main actors of this ephemeral show.

BEIRUT ART FAIR, Beirut, Libannon

September 19th to 22nd of 2013
10 x 10 x 10 m

From September 19th to 22nd it takes place the fourth edition of Beirut Art Fair, a forty galeries from fifteen countries event, mainly coming from the Asian South East and the Middle East.
Among the galeries we find Penique's work which is visible from any point of the fairgrounds, acting as a meeting place from the artists and gallery owners.
The inflatable, with 10 metres tall and saturated pink lighting, is contained by framework ropes that cross each other at different heights creating all kind of tensions. The irregular pattern of straight lines contrasts against the organic shapes of the caged inflatable looking spread. The multiple volumes define the piece as a sculpture work, visible from inside and outside.

MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA : PARIS FASION WEEK'12

Maison Martin Margiela Paris Fashion Week'12
Paris, France
September 29th of 2012
45 x 13 x 10 m

During Paris Fashion Week 2012, the Maison Martin Margiela company commissioned Penique productions to create the scenography for the presentation of their new Spring-Summer collection. The fashion world and Penique productions had another rendez-vous at the majestic Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild palace.
The aim of this project was to look for ways to connect the common points shared by Penique’s work and the fashion company’s, which, from its origins, has had close ties to the art world. The installation, which was tailor-made for the space and covered the palace’s architecture, was presented as a work of artisanship. The colour white, recurrent in Maison Martin Margiela’s presentations, turns the site into a neutral space and the only thing that remains visible are the baroque lamps hanging from the ceilings.

Muchas gracias al fenomenal equipo que nos ha ayudado a hacerlo posible: Javier de Riba, Edgar Lledó, Francesc Rabat, Miguel Bonet e Ignasi Cumelles. MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!

Museo da imagem e do Som (MIS), São Paulo, Brasil
April 2012
7,5 x 6,6 x 3,3 m

Penique productions’ participation in the NOVA multidisciplinary art festival consisted of installing two works in Brazil: one at the Museu da Imagem e do Som, São Paulo, and another at the Cento e Quatro, Belo Horizonte; and a third installation at the Mitte gallery in Barcelona.
In tackling this triple action, the group resolved to link the three projects together by highlighting the sculptural and invasive nature of the pieces and colours. Three cities, three spaces, three installations: one project.

EL CLAUSTRO

El Claustro
Querétaro, México
November of 2011
10 x 10 x 11 m

Penique productions travelled to México as a guest of the CutOut Fest animation festival in order to carry out an intervention in the city of Querétaro where the festival is held. The project took place at the Museo de la Ciudad, located in the former convent of San José de Gracia, and consisted of completely covering the building’s cloister.
The light transformed the piece depending on the time of day. In strong sunlight, the installation was deep blue inside and the architecture that enveloped it was tinted a shade of sky blue. At night, the warm artificial light used in the gallery around the inflatable piece and the spot light installed in the central fountain outlined the volumes in a darker shade of blue.
